Malian musician and Duke Park resident Mamadou Diabate took home the prize for Best Traditional World Music album at last night’s Grammy awards for his album Douga Mansa.
We found this out from the Duke Park listserv who sent out the following charming e-mail.
Congratulations to Duke Park’s resident kora master Mamadou Diabate. His release Douga Mansa has won the 2010 Grammy for Best Traditional World Music album. Diabate was also nominated in 2008.
Also, if you are not working this morning and are interested in a
two block long high speed sledding run with almost no car traffic, the Anita/ Hollywood hill is exceptional. Warmer weather this afternoon may impact conditions.
