Kay Hagan wins, Fox News projects

Fox News has projected that Democratic State Sen. Kay Hagan will defeat Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole in the race for North Carolina’s U.S. Senate seat.
Many here have said that Sen. Dole’s attacks on Kay Hagan in the last weeks were too little, too late. “I think her campaign didn’t react fast enough,” said Republican voter Jeff Nicholson. “Like Sen. McCain, she waited too long to go on the attack. When her campaign was out in front with a big lead, she should have been on the attack.”
Many also believe that Hagan was a creation of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Washington establishment, decrying “the national influence in local elections.”

Thank you for the report on Kay Hagan. If Fox News is correct, and Hagan wins, this would be very good news for the state of North Carolina! Despite Elizabeth Dole’s Duke U. roots and Hagan’s lack of D.C. experience, I believe Hagan would be a very good U.S. Senator. She is energetic and very bright. And, most importantly, she is very much in touch with North Carolina. This has been lacking in a big way since the National Republican Party hand-picked Elizabeth Dole to take-over Jesse Helms’ seat. Let’s hope the projection is correct!
